What’s Sony up to? Changed the official PSN FAQ after the Helldivers 2 case

The controversy online over the new requirement for a PlayStation account for all players of Helldivers 2 on PC shows no signs of abating. Although it was expected since the launch of the game, users did not welcome it and a good part of the community is on a war footing.

Helldivers 2’s rating on Steam has plummeted due to a multitude of negative reviews, while The guys at Arrowhead are getting a lot of complaints, often far beyond the limits of education. Someone has also begun to demand a refund for the purchase of Helldivers 2, regardless of the number of hours of play already accumulated.

In the midst of this turmoil, Sony also made a move that did not escape the cowardly and always judging eyes of gamers. As you can see in the screenshots attached at the bottom, the Japanese giant has suddenly modified a PlayStation support FAQ relating to the functioning of the PSN account on PC. Before yesterday May 3rd, to the question “Do I need to log in to PSN to play a PlayStation game on PC?” the following response was given: “Logging into PSN is optional when playing a PlayStation game on PC”. Now, however, this response is offered: “Some PlayStation games may require you to register and link an account PlayStation”.

In other words, if it was previously implied that the connection was optional for all PlayStation games on PC, this is no longer the case, because in Helldivers 2 it will soon be mandatory. Players who purchased Helldivers 2 before May 3rd however, they did so while the requirement was defined as optional on the official PlayStation FAQ. On the other hand, the requirement is listed as mandatory on the Steam page since the game’s launch. In short, it seems that on the one hand the players are right to complain, while on the other they were warned: what do we do now? The situation is certainly a bit confusing.

It is clear that these are not easy days for Sony, which among other things is also called upon to resolve another rather important problem: in some countries, including the Philippines, Kazakhstan and a good part of the African states, it is possible to buy Helldivers 2 on Steam but don’t sign up for a PlayStation account: What will these players do from now on? We remind you that the obligation for new buyers starts from May 6th, while users already engaged in the fight for interplanetary democracy will have to comply from June 4th.

On PlayStation 4 – Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller V2, Black It is one of today’s best sellers.
