«Murderers», «Zionists out of the march». These are some of the insults aimed at parts of the April 25 procession of the Jewish Community and the Jewish Brigade this afternoon in Milan. First, during the parade on Corso Venezia, representatives of the Community came into contact with pro-Palestinian and CAR activists. «We’ll give you the war economy. Schlein, Melons to dig the earth», they have
shouted the latter. Then he repeatedly shouts at her: “Murderers, murderers” and even “You are like Hitler”. “Gaza free from Hamas,” journalist Klaus Davi replied from the head of the Community segment. However, the interposition of the police prevented the worst, beyond a few pushes when an Israeli flag passed. Along the entire route, insults from individuals alternated with applause of support for the Jewish Brigade. But tension exploded for a few minutes when the procession reached Piazza Duomo. At that point a group of young people – “agitated North Africans”, reported the Police Headquarters – targeted the section of the Jewish community with insults and kicks at the head banner. Upon the intervention of the City Angels deployed for protection, the more or less improvised pro-Palestinians attacked, throwing pushes and beatings, but were quickly contained thanks to the intervention of officers in riot gear. Two protesters were stopped and taken to the police station. Finally, half an hour later, at 4.30 pm, the pro-Palestine activists who had been stationed in Piazza Duomo since before the start of the procession broke through the barriers trying several times – always without success to
the intervention of the police – to approach the stage.
Calenda’s conviction and the precedent of Rome
“This happened after we were insulted by pro-Palestine demonstrators throughout the march,” reported Action leader Carlo Calenda, sharing the video of the attack by the young North Africans. The centrist exponents acted as “escort” for the section of the Jewish Brigade in the procession. «Fortunately we all reacted with great composure, avoiding provocations. Thanks to the City Angels of Milan who escorted the procession with great professionalism.” Accidents and scuffles had also occurred this morning between the two opposing “factions” also at the April 25 march in Rome.
