More than an imposition, that of the minister Francesco Lollobrigida on cheeses in restaurant menus was intended to be a “solicitation” to enhance our local dairy products. But his denial was not enough to stop the avalanche of memes on social media for the latest statement collected in an interview with the Gambero Rosso website. During Vinitaly in Verona, the minister had a conversation with the director of Gambero Rosso, Marco Mensurati, to whom he said: «I would like to impose a dish dedicated to cheese on the menus of catering establishments. Not the cheese that accompanies, but the cheese that is the dish, following the French model a bit.” Lollobrigida says these words have been misinterpreted: «It is unfortunate that a newspaper that has the ambition of being a reference point for the world of Quality should express it this way. There is no imposition intended as a legal obligation, but rather a solicitation to enhance our excellent cheeses.”
However, when the denial arrived, the teasing had already started on social media. In the Memes, the minister is portrayed in various photomontages, several with film references. Like the poster of «The Horse Whisperer» which becomes caciocavalli. Or that of «The Godfather», which becomes Tomino. And so on with «Parmigiano, mia parmigiano» with the main scene of the film «Dead Poets Society».
