Other sources consulted by Wall Street Journal confirm that Tel Aviv is preparing for a direct attack from Iran in next 24-48 hours. Sources informed “by the Iranian leadership”, explains the US newspaper, confirm that while the attack plans are being discussed, no final decision has been made. Other sources say there would have been contacts with the CIA, in which Tehran spoke of an attack mode aimed at limiting the risks of escalation. But Washington still decided to send reinforcements in the Middle East: “We are moving additional resources into the region to strengthen efforts deterrence regional and increase the protection of the US military,” a senior official said Pentagon.

The head of Tehran’s diplomacy then also held a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani: in the conversation, as we understand, Tajani made a strong appeal to Iran for moderation, underlining that a retaliation against Israel would provoke a counter-reaction from the Jewish State. And this could trigger an even larger and more dangerous conflict for all states in the region.
“A direct attack by Iran will lead to an appropriate response from Israel” the Israeli Defense Minister warned last night in Italy Yoav Gallantin a telephone conversation – the second in a few days – with the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin. The two – according to an official note – discussed “preparation for an Iranian attack against the State of Israel, which could lead to an escalation in the region“. Austin, for his part, assured that Israel can count on full American support. Kirby added that the US, in recent days, has seen Israel “do what it promised to do”, regarding the opening of “further crossings for the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza” adding that in any case “we must do more”. However, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say they are “strongly prepared to attack and defend against any threat. We are at war and for about six months we have been at a high level of preparation – explained the army chief of staff, Herzi Halevi – The IDF continues to closely monitor what is happening in Iran and in various fields, constantly preparing to address existing and potential threats in coordination with the US military. Our forces are prepared and ready at any time and to face any scenario.”
