June is the month of final exams, an event which traditionally has as its soundtrack the famous Night before the exams by Antonello Venditti. In an interview reported by Leggo, the singer spoke about his success and the contemporary music scene, defining artists such as Annalisa very good but victims of the market.
Antonello Venditti he is currently engaged in a tour that includes 3 dates, the last on June 21st, at the Baths of Caracalla and then continuing in the arenas, on the occasion of the anniversary of the release of Cuore, the album that contains the famous Notte prima of exams. The singer, answering Leggo’s questions, explained what he believes are the reasons for the success of his songs, about which he has at least one certainty:
“I am one of the lucky ones who has always carried his story with him. My songs are still contemporary, timeless. I am the anthem of Rome and I wrote songs that will last forever. In fact, in a few years, they will forget about me and what will remain are the songs that will become by an anonymous Roman”
And speaking instead of contemporary artists, Venditti demonstrated that he has very clear ideas about their main difficulty. Specifically, the singer-songwriter referred to the skills and success of singers such as Annalisa and the winner of Sanremo 2024 Angelina Mango.
“These young people are good: I know how to do what they do, but they don’t know how to do what I do. Unlike us, they are pierced by deadlines, they are afraid of being forgotten. And take Annalisa: she is a very good singer but was forced by the market to become something other than herself. Also Angelina Mango. Fantastic performers and then there’s someone who decides the sound for everyone”
