Summer is in full swing and this means two things: the seasonal closure of clubs and the multiplication of summer festivals. The diary is much smaller than in the spring months, but despite this some days remain clogged with events. To try to ease the confusion, in listing them we will try as much as possible follow the West – East order, however crude. Let’s start:
The month opens with two doubles: the first is Monday July 1stwith Thy Art is Murder / Dying Fetus at the Phenomenon in Fontaneto d’Agogna; the second is the 2nd of July with Suicidal Tendencies and Agnostic Front at the Rugby Sound Fest in Legnano (MI). Wednesday July 3however, three completely different aspects of punk are on stage: i Madball at El Barrio in Turin, le The Darts in the almost homonymous Barrio’s in Milan ei Bad Religion at the Sherwood Festival in Padua.
Thursday 4th July it’s the turn of the only Italian date of the High on Fire, on stage at the Audiodrome; always in Turin there are still The Darts, this time at Blah Blah. The Ferrara Summer Festival instead offers the revenants Extremewhich descend into Romagna accompanied by the Swedish Varangians HEAT and Eclipse.
Very fun evening July 5th: Japanese people Hebi Katanawhich are defined Tokyo samurai doom, will take the stage at Blah Blah and, as support, among all the Italian groups, they have rightly chosen one called Godzilla was too Drunk to Destroy Tokyo. However, it is absolutely forbidden to laugh at the Live Music Club, with the Haken accompanied by Plini, an Australian guitarist apparently very renowned among the richardoni.
The weekend of 6 and 7 July one cannot fail to take serious consideration of the Metal Park of Vicenza, with a good amount of interesting names starting from the headliners: Bruce Dickinson on the first day and Emperor on the second. On Saturday there are also Queens of the Stone Age at the San Siro Hippodrome, while on Sunday the choice is between Bring Me the Horizonalways at the Hippodrome, ei Folkstone at the Alpe Adria Arena in Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD).
Monday July 8 The Steel Panther they will set fire to Alcatraz, but those who find themselves on the other side of the pagan plain can fall back on the Rival Sons at the San Valentino Park in Pordenone. And two days later, the 10th of Julythe Friulians will be able to enjoy nothing less than Alice Cooperagain at the aforementioned San Valentino Park.
Speaking of historical names, Thursday July 11th arrive at the Marostica Summer Festival Deep Purple. Otherwise, eventually, there are always the CCCP at the Ferrara Summer Festival. Friday July 12ththen, a stoner evening at Blah Blah in Turin, with the Ligurians Supasonic Fuzz; meanwhile, in the province of Brescia the Rovato Sound Fest, with free entry, with Genus Ordinis Dei leading the bill. Saturday July 13th Necrodeath will animate theHave a Drink on Me Festival in Brembate di Sopra (BG) together with Ulvedharr and Vide.
The July 14th it is not only the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille but also the great day of the tenth Hellbrigade Festival at the Slaughter in Paderno Dugnano: among the protagonists, Mortuary Drape, Rebaelliun and, for the first time in Italy, Black Altar. A few kilometers away, at the Legend, there is an event focused on metalcore with the Escape the Fate as headliner.
After that there are two Sick of it All dates: Tuesday July 16th toAlchemical is Wednesday July 17 to the Legend. The July 18th then it will be the turn of the Escuela Grind at Blah Blah in Turin and, the July 19thhere come the Pentagram (the Chilean death-thrash ones, watch out) at Freakout.
The 19-20-21 July the great annual event returns Hops in Rock, at the Parco Colonie Padane in Cremona, which seems to me to be an event not to be missed: Gamma Ray, Amorphis, Folkstone, Paradise Lost, Primordial, Uada, Alestorm, and so on. Furthermore, they say, the whole context is very pleasant. I confess that it really pisses me off not being able to go.
Saturday July 20th we still find the Pentagram (always the Chilean ones) at the Centrale Rock Pub, in Brianza; then i Dropdead at Freakout and finally, at Parco Fornaci in Vicenza, i Marlene Kuntzalways struggling with theirs Cathartic Tour. Sunday July 21st then it’s the big day of the Rammstein at Campovolo, who agree that you would most likely be forced to watch them on the big screens, but at least you will be able to enjoy the fireworks.
At this point the events seriously begin to thin out: for the next concert you have to go directly to July 24thwith The Atrocious at the Villa Angeletti park in Bologna. Thursday 25th instead everyone in Genoa for a wild evening with (16), Isaak and Sator, al Suburbs Off. Meanwhile the Blah Blah proposes the Jungle Rotwho return to Italy after a five-year absence.
The weekend of 26 and 27 July also returns Bad pay, as always with free admission: this time the company offers Moonsorrow, Sirenia, Ulvedharr and singing company. Also on Saturday 27 July there would be CCCP at the port of Genoa and also i The Cult at Carroponte, which is celebrating its fortieth anniversary.
The July 28th it becomes difficult not to head to Magnolia for the SoloMacello Fest, with Ufomammut, Bologna Violenta, Isaak and other stoners. About twenty minutes away by car, the Legend offers them To Wilhelm Screamold school melodic punk.
Wednesday July 31st ends the month with a bang: at Ziggy there are The Obsessed, supported by Black Propaganda; the Freakout arrives The Black Heart Procession and finally, at the Otherwhen, the Ukrainians drop Stoned Jesus together with the Polish Dopelord.
