In a recent interview with The Metal Voice, the former singer of IRON MAIDEN, Paul Di’Annosaid the following about the lack of progress in the medical treatment he underwent after his knee surgery:

“It’s my fault for continuing to tour. Sometimes I’m forced to do it, because the various expenses and treatment costs are astronomical. I get treatment in Croatia, because it’s cheaper to do it here privately than in the UK, where they don’t treat you. Now I took these two months off to get myself together and also for my mental health. In recent years I have been suicidal. I can’t sit around doing nothing all the time. […] Going on tour isn’t good for me, because I can’t do the physiotherapy and lymphatic drainage that I need. Sometimes I succeed but not always. It is very difficult for me to travel and go by plane and bus. Singing live, however, is very good for me from a mental point of view. When I’m at home, I’m isolated because I live in the countryside and don’t get many visitors. In the last few months I have been quite ill due to infections. I got pneumonia last year in Mexico while I was there doing physiotherapy after the tour.”

Paul Di’Anno in 2022 he underwent delicate leg surgery which should have allowed him to walk again within a few months. As his manager himself stated, the lack of consistency in physiotherapy treatments and the lack of assistance led to the interruption of his recovery process.
