Marianna and Marco Morandi, children of the famous singer Gianni Morandi and Laura Efrikian, told “Corriere della Sera” about the challenges and privileges of their childhood and adolescence, sharing anecdotes about their father’s severity and the lack of normality: «As children we missed banal things: ice cream with dad, pizza on Saturday night. He was always attacked.” Marianna and Marco opened up in the newspaper interview where they expressed moments of intimacy linked to the family, also going through the psychological difficulties linked to their famous surname.
New theater project, “Welcome to Casa Morandi”
Marianna and Marco Morandi, 50, also told of when the Argentine nanny Marta accompanied them between their father’s and mother’s homes with a lot of luggage, including a violin and a cello. Raised with rigor, Marianna and Marco remember Gianni Morandi’s severe expectations: «Do you want to sing? You have to be like Liza Minnelli. Do you want to act? Then like Monica Vitti.”
Marianna, 55, says that, despite her father’s rigor, it was her mother who influenced her most with readings such as Hamlet to put her to sleep. Both brothers had to deal with the weight of their last name, always in the public eye and with the expectation that they could do no wrong. Despite this, they recognize the privileges they have had and are preparing to stage the show “Benvenuti a casa Morandi” at the end of the year.
