Negramaro debuted their stadium tour at the Maradona in Naples, with a tribute to Pino Daniele and the emotion of Giuliano Sangiorgi.

Pino Daniele and Lucio Dalla were the two spiritual fathers who accompanied Giuliano Sangiorgi and Negramaro throughout their first concert of the stadium tour. And where could they start if not at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples, home of the Mascalzone Latino so loved by the Apulian singer who only a few days ago had paid homage to him on Gigi D’Alessio’s stage in Piazza del Plebiscito. Negramaro arrived in the Neapolitan city strong in their unconditional – and reciprocated – love for this city and with the desire to return live with a concert full of their successes and a setlist over two and a half hours long, with a lot of energy but also some moments of emotion.

That there was a desire to go live was evident right from the start, starting from the huge moon-shaped balloons thrown at the audience – a bit Flaming Lips style – and from a crackling start with Luna Piena, Sei tu la mia città, Il posto dei santi, Ricominciamo tutto and Contatto and some hints at Lucio Dalla with Canzone and Com’èdeep il mare accompanying one of the artists most linked to the city of Naples. It is immediately clear how involved the 30,000 people who filled the Maradona were, the show was very tight, Sangiorgi, in great form, alternated marathons along the stage and contemplation, but what was evident was the desire to look the audience in the eyes and touch it.

The scenography is very beautiful, with this neutral face that took on various expressions, from those of the musicians on stage to the expressions of a cat, clown, etc. After the first part it was the turn of Until dark, The first time, For someone like me, Has it ever happened to you and Clouds and sheets, which brought a roar to Fuorigrotta. At that point came a long tribute to Pino Daniele, with the son of the Neapolitan singer-songwriter who first honored Sangiorgi with the Musicante Award and then gave him one of Pino Daniele’s characteristic guitars. A moment of emotion for the singer, who struggled to hold back his emotion and tears, putting his hands and arms in front of his face several times and turning his back to the audience.

Negramaro’s setlist at the Maradona Stadium in Naples: the order of the songs

The audience chanted several times “Olè, olè olè, Pino, Pino”: “I don’t believe it, guys. I recognize it, I don’t know about you – said Sangiorgi looking at the black guitar -. Thanks to the Pino Daniele Foundation, it’s happening, I’m fainting now. For me this guitar represents a lot” he repeated, holding it in his hands. With that guitar Giuliano Sangiorgi performed a very personal version of Napul è, duetting with the singer Alessandra Tumolillo and Andro on the piano, accompanied by the stadium audience. And after this tribute, a small encore with the beautiful “Mal di te”.

At that point the concert was a further descent in the depths of the discography of the Salento band, but also of the duets with two special guests, given that Sangiorgi first called with him on stage an enormous Niccolò Fabi – accompanied by Roberto Angelini on steel guitar – with whom he duetted in Solo tre minuti, before to present the unreleased “Congiunzione astrale” which will be present in their next album recorded in Berlin. And “Lente” will also be part of this work, the second unreleased song that the band played together with Aiello, who had also accompanied Sangiorgi in Attenta. After L’immenso and Via le mani dall’occhi, then, it was the turn of the encores: “Meraviglioso”, ” Quando tutto passa” and “Parlami d’amore” to close this first chapter in the stadiums.
