Around the Itria Valley with a historic train

Light clothes and wide-brimmed hats to protect yourself from the summer heat of the Itria valley: yesterday afternoon the alternative program began for the spouses of the leaders involved in the work of the G7, among art and centuries-old olive trees.

Present were the general secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Carlo Deodato with his wife Cristina Capranica and Laura Marzano, wife of the Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister Francesco Saggio. Leading the group is Director Fabio Galeandro.

Among the unique pieces on display in the Museum, a clay group depicting a Banquet from the Messapian period, a head of the Roman statue of Attis, everyday objects such as vases and utensils, coins. The interactive section “Egnazia and the Sea” dedicated to underwater archeology also aroused particular curiosity.
After the museum it was the turn of the Pettolecchia Castle, in the countryside of Fasano, dating back to the 15th century, located
along the Via Traiana, which connected Rome to Brindisi. Adjacent to the fortress, the husband and wife had the opportunity to admire some majestic two-thousand-year-old olive trees. Today it is the turn of the trulli of Alberobello and a tour
of the Itria valley crossed with a historic train.
