Europe has decided to increase duties on imports of Chinese electric cars with opposition from Germany. And in the week after the vote, with the G7 in Italy, we try to imagine what the European economy of the future will be like. Different balances and less political integration, less unity? How will a political subjectivity that is weaker than the past position us on the global market, in the face of the giants? You teach European Economic Policy at Stanford University in Florence and at Luiss Guido Carli in Rome. Among his books “Austerity makes us grow. When rigor is the solution” (Marsilio, 2017), Paolo Guerrieri, economist, Visiting Professor at the Paris School of International Affairs, Sciences Po (Paris), taught Political Economy at Sapienza University of Rome. He is president of the scientific council of the magazine “Economia Italiana”, he recently wrote “Sovereign Europe” (Laterza 2024) with Pier Carlo Padoan.
