Flash demonstration in Piazza San Fedele in Milan, late Monday afternoon, to demand the release of the hostages kidnapped by Hamas on 7 October 2023. The event was organized by the Union of Young Jews of Italy and the Forum of the Hostages’ Families. The Jewish Community of Milan, the SetteOTTO association, the Pro Israel association and other acronyms have joined.
The demonstrators stopped in silence while the song “Bring you home”, composed by Tamir Grinberg to denounce the Israeli hostage situation, played. Each of those present held up a flyer with the words “Kidnapped” and a photograph of one of the hostages. At the end of the demonstration, the Israeli anthem was sung.
Among those present were the president of the Jewish Community Walker Meghnagi, the president of the Shoah Memorial Roberto Jarach, the director of the Museum of the Jewish Brigade Davide Romano and the Reformist city councilor Daniele Nahum. “Release the hostages, they have been in the hands of these terrorists for 7 months – declared Meghnagi – In a civilized world it is not possible. We don’t even know what the number of hostages are alive. Release the hostages and the bodies of the kidnapped”.

It is not lost on us that Piazza San Fedele is also the “back” of Palazzo Marino, seat of the Municipality of Milan. The choice of place is not random, given the recent declarations of the mayor of Milan Beppe Sala on the Palestinian flag to be displayed: “Sala is biased because he has already said what he thinks, he wants to display the Palestinian flag”, said Meghangi: “For months he refused to put up the banner we had proposed (“Free the hostages”) and I wonder why today he can’t say to put up the Palestinian flag and also the Israeli one, with the words “united for peace”. and the city of Milan is with us for peace”.
