A photo album
It is a song in full “Gabbanian” style and we could define it as a kind of photo album containing clippings from different summers, captured by Polaroid, up to the images of artificial intelligence. It is a carefree song, but not too much, which overlooks the light pleasures of the “fresh fruit” found in summer, but also opening a glimpse into the times we are living in, in which the speed and frenzy of our lives and communication do not allow time for in-depth analysis. Even if the music at times recalls the twists of the past, the words make frequent incursions into modern culture, reeling off evocative notions and concepts, which make the song enjoyable and refined at the same time.
Destiny as a hit
A piece, this new song by Gabbani, that we will certainly hear repeatedly on the radio, with the high probability of becoming a summer hit. A “catchphrase”, as they say, capable of accompanying us in the warm months. But despite the term, sometimes combined with flat and heatless songs, this new composition once again demonstrates the versatility of the singer-songwriter from Carrara: Francesco Gabbani thus re-proposes his ability to juggle more authorial compositions (the songs written in passed by Celentano and Ornella Vanoni, as well as others kept for himself) and lighter pieces, but still linked by a search for lyrics and sounds that are anything but obvious. This is the peculiarity of the artist and he started again from here, as in the DNA shown in recent years.
Towards summer
Among the scenes evoked during listening, here come images linked to the summer period, in balance between the carefreeness of summer days, to the point of composing a picture painted with the colors of melancholy, like that felt at the end of the beach season.
The central bridge (the “bridge” with which the various parts of a song are joined, such as verse and chorus) winks, in certain passages, to the myth of the Sixties, with slides that could have been taken from Fellini’s Vitelloni , with the addition of a veiled hully gully sound, the one that made millions of kids of those years and beyond dance. You can bet that the same desire to dance will also arise from “Frutta malinconia”, a piece that prevents you from sitting still from the first listen.
Question of memories

Gaber’s voice
The gem of the song is the inclusion of the voice sample Giorgio Gaber (courtesy of the Giorgio Gaber Foundation and Edizioni Curci) taken from a live version of “Destra-sinistra”. The soon-to-be-released song “Frutta Malinconia”, produced by Katoo, was composed by Francesco Gabbani with the precious collaboration of Filippo Gabbani (drummer of the singer-songwriter’s band, as well as successful producer and brother of Francesco) and Pacifico and is the first piece of a new recording project that will see the light in the coming months.
