An innate class and many ironic and self-deprecating moments surrounded by friends and colleagues
Attend a concert Ornella Vanoni it’s like walking into one magic box made of memories, anecdotes, friendship, life advice, especially of milestones of Italian music. Ornella is there on stage very elegant in Giorgio Armani Privè, age is not written out of gallantry towards the Lady of music, but let’s say that it is truly a miracle to witness a woman who still offers intact sound and interpretative magic.
The artist held two event concerts Saturday 27 April and Sunday 28 April at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi in Milan with a simple and eternal title – like the 1961 song itself – “Endless”. They spoke in the early evening Mahmood, Patty Pravo, Giuliano Sangiorgi, Madame, Francesco Gabbani and Colapesce Dimartino. They spoke on the second and last evening Gigi D’Alessio, Elisa, Emma, Calcutta, Mario Lavezzi and Dintonellapiaga. Regular presence of the great jazz trumpeter Paolo Fresu and the bandoneon player Daniele Di Bonaventura.
Duets and chatter always on the edge of emotions like the one on the notes of “At least you in the universe” with Elisa o “The appointment” in both Mahmood’s version on the first evening and with Calcutta on the second evening. It’s still “You’re a big deal” on the piano with D’Alessio who also received ironic compliments from Ornella for being the father of six children. And finally Emma unleashed on “Woman’s recipe”. But there is no shortage of great hits from Vanoni’s career such as “Tomorrow is another day”, welcomed by a very warm standing ovation, or the emotional “Lost” and “I know I will love you”.
At the end the applause was irrepressible for the final farewells on the notes of “Flavor of salt”, a song chosen not by chance. It is known how much Ornella Vanoni loves the sea, summer, water. Once again we have the clear sensation that the artist is a national heritage to be preserved with care and loved unconditionally. Long live Ornella always and forever.
