The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor Swift releases a surprise double album

He’s not satisfied with breaking every record with his albums, his tours, his docufilms, Taylor Swift she came back with The Tortured Poets Department, his eleventh studio album. The indefatigable singer took advantage of a break from his mammoth The Eras Tour (which will resume on May 9th in Paris and which will also arrive in Milan on July 13th and 14th) to somewhat surprisingly launch a new album, announced only last February when it had achieved yet another record at the Grammys, the first artist to obtain four awards as best album of the year. Precisely on that occasion she had surprised with the news of his arrival new project, but there was no shortage of surprises until a few hours ago. In fact, at midnight between April 18th and 19th, it was released as expected The Tortured Poets Departmentbut two hours later the singer wrote a post on Instagram announcing TTPD: The Anthologya surprise second album with 15 extra songs.

“It’s two in the morning: The Tortured Poets Department it’s a secret double album“, she wrote: “I’ve written so much ‘tormented poetry’ over the last two years and wanted to share it with you, so here’s chapter two“. From the moment the cover was released it was clear that it would be a decidedly tormented and intimate album, with several literary references, in particular to romance and Emily Dickinson (in the meantime it has been discovered that the American singer and poet are actually very distant relatives). What was already clear from the tracklist, and confirmed by the first listens, is that it was a break up album powerful and resolute, but not without hope. Also on Instagram Swift made it known that the album talks about a period in her life that was equally”sensational and painful”but now that chapter is closed: “The writer is firmly convinced that our tears become sacred in the form of ink on the page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can finally let go of it”.
