The comment by Satriani:
“When Steve and we decided that the time had finally come to collaborate on an album. I immediately thought about our humble origins, where we come from, our teenage hopes and dreams of rock’n’roll. Each part of the song has little parts that are reminiscent of what we were, musically, including a chord sequence that I and Steve sometimes we would play as part of a jam during our guitar lessons. “
Vai’s comment:
“This song and its 2 additional parts were inspired by a very large field outside of the high school in the city where I and Joe we grew up. As teenagers we sat near this magnificent field spending hours talking and thinking about the meaning of life and many other profound topics.”
Satriani continues:
“To anyone else it may seem like just a field as well as part of the sprawling Carle Place Public School complex, but to some of us, in the early 1970s, when the sun set and the moon took its place it was there, in that moment, which ‘the sea of emotion’ was born”.
The song is the opening act for the guitar duo’s tour which will start on March 22nd in Orlando.
