Here’s how much Avatar Fire and Ash grossed in the first two weeks: The Way of Water had done better

Avatar: Fire and Ash has now reached a new box office milestone: $760.4 million worldwide. More precisely, in the USA it grossed 217.7 million dollars, half of those obtained in the rest of the world (542.7 million).

For comparison, Avatar The Way of Water had surpassed a billion dollars at the global box office in its first thirteen days. In total, the three Avatar films have grossed over $6 billion to date.

Going into detail, the first Avatar had closed the race at 2.9 billion dollarswhile the second film had to settle for 2.3 billion. Avatar 3 must certainly be able to get close to these figures to be considered a success by Disney and Cameron.

Will the next Avatars be made?

Avatar 4 is currently scheduled for December 2029, while the fifth should arrive in 2031. All this, however, also depends on the results of the current film. Cameron himself admitted to being nervous about the results of Fire and Ash and stated that he was aware of those “forces” aiming to limit film releases.

Avatar is an expensive saga to makeclearly, but unfortunately we don’t have precise numbers: Cameron avoided going into details when questioned about it, but suggested that these are considerable figures and that a large collection is therefore necessary to create a profit.

Cameron actually says he has “no doubt that the film will make money.” The question though is whether it will “make enough money to justify another one.” At least, if Avatar 4 and 5 aren’t made, James Cameron will tell the ending of the saga.
