Created by Belgian cartoonist André Franquin in 1952, Marsupilami returns to the big screen in a new film version thirteen years after the adaptation by Alain Chabat which in 2012 ranked as the third highest grossing film of the year at the French box office. In view of therelease scheduled in France for February 4ththe first trailer for Marsupilami which shows an obvious homage to E.T. Of Steven Spielberg and winks at the other famous creatures of the 80s, the much scarier ones Gremlins.
As for the cast, the well-known French comedian Philippe Lacheau he also takes charge (as has happened to him several times) of playing the protagonist, in addition to directing. The cast includes members of the comedy collective “Bande à Fifi” of which the same Lacheau is part: Tarek Bodali, Julien Arruti, Page Fontan e Reem Kherici. To these are added Jamel Debbouzewho takes up the role of the guide Pablito Camaron, already seen in Marsupilami of 2012, as well as Alban Ivanovto the young man Corentin Guillot ea Jean Reno. In minor roles they also appear Gérard Jugnot e Didier Bourdon.
According to what the director had declared some time ago, the creature approximately one meter tall, equipped with superhuman strength and a prehensile tail capable of extending up to eight meters, would not have been created mainly in CGI. Marsupilami it would therefore be the result, for the majority of its appearances, of the artisanal work carried out with the technique of the animatronic puppet (as was done in the good old days), to guarantee the realism of the animal on the scene with the actors.
Marsupilami: plot and trailer of the film about the cute spotted animal
The story revolves around David, a man willing to do anything to avoid losing his job. He thus accepts a somewhat questionable assignment: to bring back a mysterious package from South America. The journey takes place aboard a cruise ship, where he finds himself together with his ex Tess, his son Léo and his colleague Stéphane, a clumsy and naive guy who David uses as an unwitting “courier”. The problems begin when Stéphane accidentally opens the package, releasing a very cute Marsupilami puppy, an event that turns the crossing into a total disaster.
