An American Saga, Kevin Costner’s blockbuster gets off to a bad start at the box office

Horizon: An American Saga is not just any project for Kevin Costner. The Oscar-winning actor and director has said in the past that he invested a lot in this film, even on a financial level, shelling out a large part of the budget out of his own pocket. Unfortunately, the first response at the box office is not positive.

The US opening weekend of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 is just $11 million, in line with forecasts in recent weeks. These are not such unusual numbers for an original western but perhaps Costner expected more.

Il The first Horizon cost around 50 million within a franchise that exceeds 100 million dollars, with a second part that will be released in theaters in August. Definitely not the debut we had hoped for. The mixed reviews coming out of Cannes may not have helped Costner’s project but the second film remains scheduled for release in the second half of the summer. While waiting for the first Horizon, in Italy from July 4th, here are Kevin Costner’s westerns from worst to best.

Set in 1859, the film tells the story of a group of characters engaged in trying to get by in the Wild West and of a group of indigenous people who should have an increasingly important role within the plot of the film saga.
The first film’s large cast also includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, and Isabelle Fuhrman. Catch up on the trailer for Horizon An American Saga Chapter 1, presented at the Cannes Film Festival.
