In My Twin’s Madnessthe diabolical plan incredibly succeeds perfectly and Tracy finds herself a live the life of a kinsman and to manage not only her professional career as a writer but also her turbulent relationship with her teenage daughter. The madness of my twin and everyone else

A romantic scene from My Twin’s Madness

A film like this, even in spite of its less than stellar production values, needs a solid script that pushes the viewer not to stop after ten minutes and to continue watching, driven by curiosity about the characters’ fate and who is lying and hiding secrets of various kinds. The madness of my twin Unfortunately landslides right from its daring premisewith the prologue already making clear the flaws of an unlikely and cumbersome narrative. It is completely unthinkable that doctors and nurses are unable to notice the differences that exist between the two twinswho although physically identical – as they are played by the same actress – have a diametrically opposed character. A very gross error that will cost the lives of some secondary characters and then resolve itself in an annoying “bite and wine” epilogue, where everything the blood shed seems to have been forgotten not only by the protagonists but also by the police or whoever acts on their behalf.

I’ll Steal Your Life, Review: An Unlikely Thriller

A well-known approach

Nicole Marie Johnson in double role

The style is typical of the productions Lifetime, and anyone who is familiar with the trademark of this overseas television network, specialized in films for the small screen, already knows well what they will encounter. The first seconds introduce us with a certain vehemence to the background that will characterize the subsequent running time, centered precisely on the dualism between these two female figures who despite sharing everything couldn’t be further from each other. But even in the management of the aforementioned the narrative plot forces the hand excessively, with a twist that it borders on the absurd and which tries to surprise a spectator who probably at that point had already completely lost his compass, between exchanges of identities and secrets of the past that progressively come to light in flashbacks that are at least improvised.

Inside and outside

Poster of My Twin’s Madness

The main problem of The madness of my twin in any case it is the outline. Apart from the aforementioned lack of health care personnel, the numerous secondary characters that revolve around the double protagonist, between married lovers and last-minute blackmailers, are also slave of illogical logicsince it is impossible for anyone to notice the exchange that took place only a few days earlier. The story thus drags on by inertia, with the staging by the director Dylan Vox which exploits almost all of the anonymous insiders, ready when necessary to focus on close-ups of Nicole Marie Johnsonwho lacks the charisma and ability to properly differentiate their respective roles. Yet another weak point in an operation that is far more than ordinary.

Conclusions

Two identical twin sisters are at the center of a thriller about mistaken identity: when one of them, admitted to a psychiatric institution, takes the place of the other during a visit, the situation takes an unexpected turn. My Twin’s Madness starts from an absurd premise, with no one – starting with the doctors – noticing the incredible substitution, until a series of twists that in the end make the whole thing even more, unintentionally(?), grotesque and ridiculous.

Because we like it

  • Involuntary laughter in the management of the story.

What’s wrong

  • An absurd script.
  • A completely colorless staging.
  • A protagonist incapable of managing the complexity of the double role.
