After all, already author Claudia Gray had used the actor to model a character in the new High Republic film: Leox Gyasi, a male human pilot who worked for the Byne Guild in the High Republic era, when the Galactic Republic was at pinnacle of his powers: “I didn’t want to make someone who was just like Han Solo. And I definitely didn’t want to put Han Solo on a diet. He’s kind of a thief, but less interesting. So what’s the model for a pilot who has some of this rogue energy and isn’t Han Solo at all? And somehow my brain thought: ‘you have to give ’90s Matthew McConaughey a spaceship and see what would happen'”.
