Star Wars, here’s why Matthew McConaughey would be a perfect General Grievous

There is a reason that General Grievous is one of the best Star Wars villains and perhaps there is a Hollywood star who could bring the same charisma and hatred for the Jedi order back to the big screen.

George Lucas’ Star Wars universe is constantly evolving: Dave Filoni is currently busy with the second season of the Ahsoka live-action TV series but his plans also include a film set in the High Republic which could also involve the cyborg (also in the perspective of a probable Rated – R Star Wars film)

And if so far Matthew Wood, John DiMaggio, Richard McGonagle and Kirby Morrow have given the voice to one of Anakin Skywalker’s enemies between the seasons of the animated series The Clone Wars and the films of the franchise, perhaps it is time for Matthew McConaughey to take possession of the role. After all, already author Claudia Gray had used the actor to model a character in the new High Republic film: Leox Gyasi, a male human pilot who worked for the Byne Guild in the High Republic era, when the Galactic Republic was at pinnacle of his powers: “I didn’t want to make someone who was just like Han Solo. And I definitely didn’t want to put Han Solo on a diet. He’s kind of a thief, but less interesting. So what’s the model for a pilot who has some of this rogue energy and isn’t Han Solo at all? And somehow my brain thought: ‘you have to give ’90s Matthew McConaughey a spaceship and see what would happen'”.

Will Matthew McConaughey finally debut in Star Wars? While we wait to find out, here’s why General Grievous is obsessed with lightsabers.
