The film featuring the musical genius from Minneapolis will be available on home video and on various digital platforms from June 25th.
On July 27, 1984, a legendary film debuted in American theaters: Purple Rainperformed and set to music by a true genius of modern music: Prince Rogers Nelson, aka, simply, Prince.
Directed by Albert Magnoli, written by Magnoli himself (later Prince’s manager) and William Blinn, the film was totally at the service of the musician, constructed from scratch to put his talent, history and obsessions on the screen. The film – whose soundtrack, awarded theOscaris obviously the famous self-titled album that over-sold 25 million copies all over the world – will be available from June 25th on home video and on various digital platforms in its restored 4K versiondistributed by Warner Home Video, to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
A trailer of this 4K restored version of Purple Rain it’s not available yet, but in this case the audio is more important than the images – although not to be underestimated – and a vintage trailer will still be fine to celebrate the return of Prince’s film.
