According to Anya Taylor-Joy, the transition between the child and adult versions of Furiosa was made possible by CGI, used to make the two actresses more similar to each other. Interviewed during The Kelly Clarkson Show, Anya Taylor-Joy revealed how innovative CGI helped Alyla Browne look more like her adult self as the on-screen story progressed. The idea was to George Miller, according to Taylor-Joy. He made sure the similarity was 35% at the beginning of the film and then increased it to 80% towards the end of the second chapter, then handed over the baton.
George Miller had this idea very early. The public was already getting used to a new Furiosa. He wanted the transition from both actresses playing her to be seamless. And so I lived two crazy days. They blended our faces together, it’s crazy to see.
It is unclear what techniques they used to achieve their goal. Being divided into chapters, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga allowed George Miller to retrace every aspect of the Empress’ life before the events narrated in Mad Max: Fury Road.
