Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 movie is an economic disaster

There is a lot of anticipation for Apex, the film about Formula 1 with Brad Pitti shot by Joseph Kosinski, director of Top Gun Maverick, sequel to the original filmed by Tony Scott in 1986. But according to some specialized cinema sites the film already seems to be an economic disaster. Insider Daniel Richtman declared it one of the most expensive films in the history of cinema with a budget already skyrocketing over 300 million, a crazy figure considering that Marvel blockbusters cost between 150 and 180 million. The actors’ strike delayed filming and the director’s desire to actually shoot on the track with Pitt aboard a modified Formula 2 car contributed to the huge expense. Just to break even at the box office the film will have to gross 750 million, thus becoming one of the highest grossing films of the year. This is why Apple is worried and hopes to rely on large distributors such as Sony or Warner Bros to be able to financially recover part of it.
