George Lucas’ favorite TV series
Speaking of recent products we are obviously referring to TV series, given that Star Wars has not been present at the cinema for five years (it will return with two films in 2026). In a new interview for the site Full of SithPablo Hidalgo stated that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is one of George Lucas’ favorite recent projects. Furthermore, he adds in the interview that they consulted with Lucas on whether Obi-Wan and Vader should have a showdown in the series and he, apparently, he was in favor of the idea and approved it.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is not a perfect series, and it contains many lightnesses both on a writing and technical level. But it’s no surprise that it’s one of Lucas’ favorites over others, because despite the flaws it really reflects his vision of the franchise. It contrasts moments of lightness with sequences of great emotional tension, is rich in Starwarsian poetry and delves deeper the stories of the key characters of the saga. And as we well know, the creator has often overlooked the concept of perfection, focusing much more on the development of the most characteristic topos of his work over the years.
