The home-video edition of Godzilla Minus One has become, in just a few days after its official release in Japan, the most pirated of all of 2024.
This update comes from Torrent Freak, a site dedicated to all things piracy: the site often analyzes torrent data to see which titles are pirated the most online, and according to a new analysis from last week, Godzilla Minus One has already become the most pirated film of the yeareven surpassing the figures of the ‘pirates’ of Dune: Part 2.
Unfortunately, the result is not surprising, and for a very simple reason: Dune 2 already has a home-video edition, which will arrive on physical shelves all over the world very soon (in addition to the on-demand distribution already started by Warner Bros a few weeks ago) while for the moment Godzilla Minus One was only released in Japana move that completely cut out all the fans of the saga scattered throughout the rest of the world: evidently, in order to be able to see the film, and in the absence of any home-video edition (with the exception of the Japanese one, which however does not even include English subtitles), fans have surrendered to piracy.
For now we have no idea when the film will be made officially available in the United States, Italy and other markets, but we hope that the Toho Company can organize an official release as soon as possible.
