It is a thriller told from the killer’s point of view
What if a horror film was told from the killer’s point of view? This is the premise of In a Violent Naturewhich apparently seemed to have shocked the audience present at the screening during the Chicago Critics Film Fest.
The slasher by newcomer Chris Nash is centered on the undead serial killer Johnny (Ry Barrett) looking for new victims in the woods. The killing spree is spurred by the removal of a medallion from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that imprisons the rotting corpse of Johnny, a spirit seeking revenge after a horrific crime 60 years ago.
Johnny’s body is resurrected and he is determined to recover the jewel from a group of vacationing teenagers. The only way to do it? Methodically slaughtering them one by one.
The reaction of the public
According to some reports published a few hours ago, and which testify to what happened during the screening of the film, the public would have been particularly traumatized from a kill in the film – apparently graphically explicit. Indeed, an audience member would be arrived to vomit in the room during the aforementioned scene.
Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver and Lauren Taylor make up the cast. In a Violent Nature is produced by Peter Kuplowsky and Shannon Hanmer.
The next horror films coming soon
For horror lovers, 2024 will offer a slew of releases ranging from the gory to the gruesome, and many of these are the work of first-time directors like Nash. Caitlin Cronenberg, daughter of David Cronenberg and sister of Brandon, will make her directorial debut with Humaneanother Shudder distribution.
