A few days ago, Arnold Schwarzenegger And Sylvester Stallone they’re back sharing the screen, this time for a TV special titled Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons.

On the occasion of the special, obviously there was a lot of talk about the rivalry between the two stars.

There’s no other way to put it: it was very helpful for my career because I had a purpose, something to chase” commented Schwarzenegger, who is now 76 years old, speaking of Stallone, who is 77.

The Rocky actor explained that with the arrival of Schwarzenegger “I finally had something to motivate me. Because he represented a competitor, a threat […] As soon as I saw it it was bang, two alphas colliding“.

Schwarzenegger later admitted that he was “the one that started it all… I opened my mouth, said stupid things and was competitive“.

The rivals are now friends, as underlined during the interview, when they were invited to talk about what it is that one loves about the other.

Schwarzenegger admitted that he loved “dedication and passion” by Stallone. “I wish I had the same passion as him for certain things. It’s really incredible, and it’s probably due to his emotionality. He is a very emotional guy, unlike me. I am too, but not like him“.

Stallone, however, admires his colleague’s “stability”:

It’s like a season that doesn’t change. Organized, precise, thoughtful. I’m not, and he’s right. I’m very emotional and sometimes I’m not clear-headed, so I make mistakes. It happens when the heart takes over the brain. […] Arnold is like a chess player, you don’t know what he’s doing, but he achieves his goal. And then he has a big heart. I mean, you wouldn’t think that of us because we’re “action stars,” but we’re more emotional than a lot of dramatic actors, trust me. Don’t think for a second that we are not sensitive, especially with the past we have had.
