Many don’t know that Prime Video offers a thriving selection of horror movie. If after enjoying the Fallout TV series you feel like horror, here are five selected contents for you.
Rec
Following the trend started with The Blair Witch Project, Rec attempts to emulate the 1999 masterpiece, and does so with some success. Released in 2007, Rec is a Spanish production in the style of a false documentary. The success at home and elsewhere gave rise to a series of films and a remake released the following year, entitled Quarantine.
Knocking at the door
One of the latest works by the director of Indian origins M. Night Shayamalan, now busy promoting his next film Trap, recently appeared in a very first trailer. There’s a knock on the door the film adaptation of the novel The House at the End of the World by Paul G. Tremblay. Among the protagonists of the feature film are the great Dave Bautista and Rupert Grint.
The Shining
As we usually do, we are keen to include at least one timeless classic in these lists. A leading exponent of the horror genre which certainly stands out from all the others for its extremely enveloping and intriguing tones, as well as for its protagonists who have become true legends of cinema over the years. Timeless masterpiece by director Stanley Kubrick, also in this case we find ourselves faced with an adaptation of a book, The Shining, written by the great Stephen King and released three years before the film of the same name.
The Witch
With a debutant Anya Taylor-Joy, who we will soon see again at the cinema in the role of Furiosa in the Mad Max spin-off Fury Road, The Witch presents itself as a horror film characterized by a certainly particular setting, namely the “New England” of the seventeenth century . A period, as the name of the film suggests, where the Witch hunting was a favorite pastime of Puritans and ecclesiastics of all stripes.
Life
A film halfway between science fiction and horror, Life represents what we could define an “alternative” version of cinema’s most famous alien. The excellent cast, made up of Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Ryan Reynolds, makes room for a story where, at the center, we find a hostile extraterrestrial life form, intent on taking control of the International Space Station.
