Little by little, more and more details are starting to arrive regarding one of the next Star Wars films, the film set 15 years after Episode IX what he will see Rey build a new Jedi Order. Daisy Ridley recently returned to talk about the film, its screenplay and above all how he is approaching the return in the Star Wars franchise. Let’s see his words below!

Daisy Ridley remembers her Star Wars debut

In the latest issue of Empire Magazine Daisy Ridley talked about her recent films, Sometimes I Think About Dying And Young Woman and the Sea. The conversation naturally moved on about her role as Rey Skywalker in Star Wars. Ridley made her debut remembering his experience after signing on for the new star of one of the biggest film franchises of all time:

“There was a lot of love and protection. I can’t remember well, it was ten years ago. There was a lot of support, but nothing can really prepare you for what you’re about to face on an individual level. When everything happened, I stayed at home and thought: “Okay!”. There’s a little bit of madness and then it all goes away again, which is great.
For all the people who said, “Your life is going to change,” it kind of did, and then you go to your mom’s house and think, “Okay, this is cool.” Having such a solid foundation was the best thing for me. Obviously, on a professional level, things have changed, e.g [in termini di] anonymity, things change, but only for a short time. There have been a lot of changes, but a lot of things have also remained the same.”

The return in the new film

As the sequel trilogy experience has passed, Daisy Ridley explained that is approaching his return with a new perspective as Rey Skywalker in the film about the New Jedi Order, still untitled; although she initially took her time before going all-in on the film:

It wasn’t a difficult decision. I didn’t say yes right away, Kathy [Kennedy, presidente della Lucasfilm] he told me, ‘Take all the time you need.’ It was actually a lot of fun on the way there [a incontrare la Kennedy]I was on the phone with my best friend and he said to me: ‘Oh my God, Dais, imagine if they made a Rey TV series‘. And I’m like, “No, we’re literally going to breakfast.”
Then I called him and said, “You’ll never guess what.” Why shouldn’t I have done that? Yes, they were divisive, but they also brought a lot of love and joy to a lot of people. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to continue playing a character – like I can remember how to play? It’s an interesting challenge as an actor to go back to something and try to understand what changed for me and what changed for her“.

The screenplay and new approaches

The actress also added that, at the time of the interview [i primi giorni di Aprile]he expected to read a first draft of the next film’s screenplay a month later:
“I know the highlights of the storybut other than that I’m not sure what it will be like. But I’ll read the script next month“.

When asked what it would be like to revisit the character of Rey Skywalker on her own terms, Daisy Ridley said she had a greater sense of belonging to his work and maturity compared to the first time she signed on, and to be grateful to both revisit the role and explore new avenues as an actress after the rise of his fame:

“Arriving with my eyes a little more open, I think I feel more in control of the role. I guess I owned it the first time. Basically, I’m an adult now. I certainly didn’t feel like an adult at the time. Obviously, from a personal point of view, things have changed, e.g from a professional point of view I have had many other experiences, and so I feel like this time it’s a different thing. There is a lot of joy in me and in these films. Honestly, if I wasn’t excited, I wouldn’t have done it.

It seems like an amazing thing to be a part of… I think the truth is [Star Wars] it will always be the first thing I’m attached to in my career. It’s something I’m aware of, but it’s not something I feel like a difficulty either. I feel very privileged to have played that role and obviously I will continue to do so. From a work point of view, then, I’m lucky to have been able to do other things thanks to those films. So I don’t take anything for granted. I want to be a working actress – that’s my goal. And I’m doing it, and it’s really cool“.

This movie should come out in December 2026, and active development is expected to begin this year. What do you think of Daisy Ridley’s words? Tell us as always in the comments!
