Former supervillain Gru (Steve Carrell) is about to return to Despicable Me 4. But this time he will be on the run together with his family from the criminal Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell) and his girlfriend Valentina (Sofia Vergara).
An unreleased sequence from the film was shown at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The scene follows Gru and would-be villain Poppy (King) as they try to break into a castle, with Gru accidentally bringing his baby bag instead of gear. However, baby powder proves helpful in highlighting lasers. Gru Jr. crawls through the laser grid and deactivates it, but in an attempt to anesthetize a skunk in a cage, Gru injects himself with the anesthetic. At that moment it turns out that they are in a principal’s office and are kicked out by an old lady.
One of the new characters in the film is Gru Jr, the protagonist’s son and it seems that Despicable Me 4 will focus a lot on this bond.
Other cast members include Kristen Wiig, Joey King, Miranda Cosgrove, Chloe Fineman, Stephen Colbert and Steve Coogan.
