After the first screening of Megalopolis, which Francis Ford Coppola presented to family, friends and distributors, in these hours the eagerly awaited new film by the author of Apocalypse Now and The Conversation held a second super-preview screening in London.
The film, which had previously been described as “a crazy thing”, “baffling”, “definitely indefinable”, “fit for a museum” and “the work of a madman”, was received with great enthusiasm by the public who attended the British premiere. Le Point’s Phillipe Guedj said he had a source present at the highly armored preview, who sent him the following reaction: “Megalopolis is like Einstein and relativity in 1905, Picasso and Guernica in 1937. Coppola marked a new historical moment for cinema“.
As hyperbolic as it may seem, this reaction will certainly contribute to the increase the great anticipation towards Megalopolisfor which – we remind you – at the moment there is neither a release date in theaters nor an official premiere date at a film festival: previously there was talk of a worldwide distribution in autumn, also for the IMAX circuit , but to date we don’t know whether Megalopolis will debut in Cannes, Venice or the New York Film Festival.
Meanwhile, Coppola admitted that he has already started working on a new film after Megalopolis.
