The news is from the last few hours: the actress Julia Garneralready winner of an Emmy and a Golden Globe, will become part of the highly anticipated Marvel film The Fantastic Four. It thus reaches a parterre already full of stars, announced in recent weeks, such as Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby in that of Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach in those of Ben Grimm (the Thing). In the film directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters) will instead see Garner, known for her roles in Ozarks And Inventing Annato interpret Shalla-Bal, a particular version of the antihero Silver Surferwho has always been a central figure in the Fantastic Four mythology.
The Silver Surfer original (also seen in the 2007 film Fantastic Four and the Silver Surferwhere he had the voice of Laurence Fishburne) is none other than Norrin Raddan astronomer who to save the home planet, Zenn-La, from the destructive fury of Galactus, the devourer of planets, decides to become his herald and announce his arrival to the worlds that will soon be assimilated; only once he arrives on Earth will he have his redemption. Originally, in the comics, Shalla-Bal is theEmpress of Zenn-La and lover of the Silver Surfer himself, separated from him after Norrin after Galactus grants him the Power Cosmic. She later she will be kidnapped by Mephisto (this fact is fundamental because Mephisto is the next much-rumored mega-villain of the MCU) and at a certain point will acquire the powers of the Silver Surfer himself to save their home planet once and for all.
It is unclear whether Shalla-Bal will appear in The Fantastic Four independently or we will also have to wait for the revelation of who will play the Silver Surfer in the new film. In the meantime, his addition makes us understand that the direction taken by the new chapter wants to delve deeply into what are the most canonical stories of the Fantastic 4.
