New heat record recorded in Sicily in the last few hours while the temperature situation continues to deteriorate.
Yesterday in Sicily they were ten stations of the Sias network (temperature detection systems) they have broke the maximum temperature record of their series that started in 2002, the year of installation of the stations.
The new temperature records
Licata and Riesi were the hottest cities yesterday with 46.3 and 45.8 degrees Celsius as peaks. The records were achieved overall at ten stations. In that of Riesi, as mentioned, a maximum temperature of 45.8 °C was recorded, exceeding the previous maximum value of 45.1 °C recorded on 08/11/2021.
In the station Ribera which recorded a maximum of 45.2 °C, exceeding the previous maximum value of 43.2 °C recorded on 07/25/2009.
In the station Agrigento Scibica recorded a maximum of 44.8 °C exceeding the previous maximum value of 42.9 °C recorded on 07/25/2009. In the Sciacca station which recorded a maximum of 44.4 °C, exceeding the previous maximum value of 44.1 °C recorded on 06/08/2017;
In the station Mazara del Vallo which recorded a maximum of 44.4 °C exceeding the previous maximum value of 42.6 °C recorded on 08/05/2017;
In the station Piazza Armerina recorded a maximum of 43.9°C exceeding the previous maximum value of 43°C recorded on 11/08/2021;
In the station Agrigento Mandrascava which recorded a maximum of 43.0 °C exceeding the previous maximum value of 42.2 °C recorded on 06/25/2021;
In the station Ragusa which recorded a maximum of 41 °C exceeding the previous maximum value of 40.4 °C recorded on 06/23/2021;
In the station Pachino recorded a maximum of 39.5 °C exceeding the previous maximum value of 39.3 °C recorded on 07/25/2009.
The maximum recorded value yesterday on the Sias network, 46.3 °C, was recorded by the station Licata exceeding the previous maximum value of 42 °C recorded on 07/25/2009.
It should be noted that yesterday the minimum temperature record of Camporeale was exceeded with 29.4 °C against the previous value of 28.8 °C of 07/23/2007; certainly during tonight, given the trend of today, other minimum temperature records will be reached.
