Downpour at Torino: a storm of hail and strong gusts of wind hit the city in the late afternoon of Monday, July 1. At the same time, there was also a sharp drop in temperatures, which dropped by almost 5°C in the space of 30 minutes. Flooding was also located and reported in the northernmost neighborhoods of the Piedmont capital.

Returning to Turin, in the last few hours the storm uprooted a large oak tree in the Vanchiglietta neighborhood. The tree fell on some parked cars. Luckily, however, there was no one on board. Therefore no one was injured. Only broken branches and flooding in many neighborhoods of the city. Meanwhile, the president of the Piedmont region, Alberto Ciriosigned the request for a state of emergency, precisely because of the violent rainfall that hit the territory not only today, but also last weekend, in the provinces of Verbano Cusio Ossola, Turin and Vercelli. The first estimate of the interventions needed for the emergencies is 25 million.

Severe bad weather and disruption also in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where there were about 70 interventions carried out by the firefighters. The Civil Protection has activated a yellow alert. The most affected areas are the Pordenone area and the lower Friuli area; but no injuries have been reported. As regards western Friuli, there have been about thirty requests for help to the firefighters command in Pordenone, most of them for fallen trees due to strong winds, one of which hit the Sacile-Gemona railway line, causing the interruption of traffic on a railway section and the use of replacement bus routes.
