A true revelation this summer, with second place in the VNL, Japan is relaunching and aiming to do things in a big way at the next Olympics.
The technical commissioner Masayoshi Manabe, during a press conference, announced the presence of the new Igor Novara spiker in the list of 12 + 1 players called up. Mayu Ishikawa, one of the athletes who stood out best in the competition which Italy lost in the final. Her ward mates will be Koga and Inoue.
There are two liberos in the expedition, plus a third called up as a reserve in case of injuries. The coach motivated this choice by wanting to strengthen reception, evidently the main prerogative of his team.
Furthermore, it was added that the Japanese team’s goal will be to bring home a medal, something that has never happened until now.
