Caserta. A 31-year-old man from Afragola was identified and arrested by the Carabinieri for being responsible for a robbery that took place on September 20 in a tobacconist’s in Caserta.
The provision was issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere at the request of the Caserta Carabinieri Company.
The man was acting with two other accomplices, still unidentified, who have however already been identified and are still being sought.
His role was to procure the car used for the getaway, registered to a nominee, and the weapons. During the robbery, he remained outside the shop while the other two entered with their faces covered with a surgical mask.
The criminals managed to steal approximately 6 thousand euros in cash and valuables before fleeing. The investigations of the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office, led to the identification of the 31-year-old thanks to the analysis of images from the store’s video surveillance cameras and those of the public ones.
The investigations continued with shadowing of the suspects, telephone interceptions and an exchange of information between the Carabinieri Commands present in the Caserta and Naples areas.
This made it possible to collect evidence against the 31-year-old and to obtain a precautionary custody order in prison, notified today by the Carabinieri.

There is a possible connection between the robbery and the death of a 26-year-old centaur, Marco Dongu, son of a firefighter and collaborator of a local newspaper.
In fact, immediately after the robbery, an alert was issued to intercept the fleeing robbers. A police car participating in the search collided with Dongu’s motorbike, and he died instantly.
