two more friends, and he never resurfaced. The body was identified by the Reggio Emilia firefighters who are proceeding with its recovery.
Swallowed by the river
From an initial reconstruction of what happened in San Polo d’Enza, in the Reggio Emilia area, the young man would have dived into a point where the waters, after the flood of the last few days due to bad weather and the still considerable flow, they form a vortex: this could therefore be the main cause of the accident. The 19-year-old, in detail, had dived from a concrete crossbar, landing in a point of high and swirling water, and despite his efforts to stay afloat he was dragged towards the bottom. The friends immediately raised the alarm and the searches continued until Sunday evening in the San Polo d’Enza area and downstream, where the course of the stream that marks the border between Reggio Emilia and Parma widens more and more. The activities were interrupted in the dark and restarted at dawn, using drones and amphibious vehicles
Graduated a few days ago
Giustino Danilo Colella, resident in Reggio Emilia, had graduated a few days before. He leaves the mother Nataliya Novosad and older sisters Tania and Anna Kravchenko (born from a previous marriage). Those who live in the Lido Enza area have remembered how the point where Danilo disappeared has always been rather dangerous, the crossing causes a strong increase in the power of the water, and on many occasions people who showed up to take a bath were asked to move away of a few tens of meters, on the other side of the Lido complex with restaurant, park and swimming pool, precisely to avoid risks.

In the meantime, the friends were interviewed by investigators to try to reconstruct those moments. This episode brings to mind what happened in May for the three young people drowned in the Natisone river. The last of the missing boys was found lifeless a month after the event, with the river flooding and carrying them away forever. Not only that: the tragedy comes a few days after another similar one that occurred in the province of Reggio Emilia, in Guastalla, in a quarry on the side of the Po river. Wednesday 26 June Mor Talla Diop, an 18 year old resident in the town of Reggio Emilia, drowned in the waters of an old disused quarry where he had gone with friends to take a bath. Having entered the water to cool off, he found himself in an unstable area and with the water higher than expected, without being able to save himself. The Po also had a wider flow than in the period due to the heavy rainfall which risked causing several Emilian tributaries to flood, including the Enza torrent itself.
