(ANSA) – TURIN, JULY 1 – This morning, the rector of the University of Turin, Stefano Geuna, visited Palazzo Nuovo, home to the humanities faculties, after the end of the occupation by pro-Palestine students and after the week-long work to remove the numerous graffiti created by the occupiers during the forty days of protest. At the moment, explained the rector, Stefano Geuna, the university is evaluating whether or not to proceed with the request for compensation for damages.

“These are issues that have various profiles, including legal ones” explained Geuna. We are mainly talking about fouling. “We cleaned the walls of murals and graffiti – says Genua – we also found other damage to some fixtures and latches”. “There is not yet a total sum of the damage suffered, which is huge in itself. However, we are talking about many thousands of euros – explained Geuna -. Clearly forty days of occupation without bringing in staff and without maintenance led to the damage. It was what we expected. The important part of the work was the repainting”, concludes the rector of Turin. In recent days, the digos of Turin had sent an information to the prosecutor’s office regarding the pro-Palestinian occupations in the universities of the Piedmontese capital and the damage to Palazzo Nuovo had also been examined.
