The flame will cross eight northern cities this Tuesday, during seven stages. It leaves in the morning from Avesnes-sur-Helpe to reach Lille at the end of the day. It will be Dany Boon who will light the cauldron, on the Champ de Mars, after a few other personalities will have carried the flame in the Capital of Flanders: Eve Gilles, Miss France 2024, and the former player of the French football team Raphaël Varane.
Everywhere, sports activities are planned, but also events (concerts, fanfares, shows, etc.). Here are the stages of the flame, with the times of passage:
Dany Boon, “it’s great to be here”
A few hours before the event, Dany Boon shares his delight on a video from the Nord Department, which manages the torch relay. “The North is all my first emotions. All the first times happened there. It’s my roots, my compass, my connection, my mother, that’s everything, really!” He calls for people to come to Lille, to experience this moment of communion, “huh!”
Ilévia strike: fewer metros and trams, buses cancelled
In the cities where the Olympic flame passes, transport services are logically disrupted, such as traffic and parking. In the Lille metropolitan area, major disruptions are expected. A strike by Ilévia employees is causing a reduced frequency for metros and trams. Bus lines are also being cancelled. The details of the forecasts can be found HERE.
