PISTOIA

Security and legality, a combination that the world of work cannot give up. And it is precisely with this in mind that on Friday morning, in the Sala Nardi of Palazzo Vivarelli Colonna, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Province of Pistoia and the territorial trade unions Cgil, Cisl and Uil regarding public procurement, concessions for works, supplies and services. Present at the signing of the agreement were provincial councilor Francesco Branchetti, the director of the planning and financial services area of the Province of Pistoia Ilaria Ambrogini, the general secretary of Cgil Daniele Gioffredi, the secretary of Cisl Alessandra Biagini and Tommaso Lanni of the secretariat of Uil Toscana.

The idea of drafting the protocol was born from the request, formulated by the territorial trade unions, to define a reference framework and to orient themselves towards good practices for future contracts under the jurisdiction of the local authorities of the province. The agreement therefore represents a turning point with regard to a crucial issue such as work, central to the programs of every trade union organization. The objective of the protocol, which will last five years, is to create a healthy economy, which has employment and quality of work as its priority and which follows the principles of legality, efficiency and social cohesion for the purposes of protecting workers. The document identifies methods of collaboration between the parties and aims to activate preventive discussions with the trade unions, employers’ organizations and Local Authorities regarding the annual programming of contracts, in order to share their implementation and promote the application of national employment contracts signed by the most representative trade unions to protect employment and wage conditions.

“The protocol we signed bears the name of all the people who died at work and of those who, with a heartfelt spirit of collaboration, built it – declared provincial councilor Francesco Branchetti -. The Province and trade unions have demonstrated significant sensitivity in dealing responsibly with the world of work and the agreement signed represents a great step forward”. One of the fundamental points in the protocol is also the introduction of verification of the type of contracts, carried out through the six-monthly control by the Province’s Single Contracting Station.
