12-hour yellow level weather alert for Naples and Campania: from 10am to 10pm tomorrow, Tuesday. July 2, heavy rains expected across the region.

Yellow weather warning for tomorrow, Tuesday 2 July, from 10am to 10pm, during which “local or scattered rainfall is expected, including showers and thunderstorms, punctually of moderate intensity, especially in the internal sector”. The Municipality of Naples has already announced that city ​​parks will remain closedas well as the north pier of Bagnoli, while access to the city’s public beaches will be prohibited.

The alert is yellow: we therefore expect “local or scattered precipitation, also with a reverse and thunderstorm characterpunctually of moderate intensity, especially in the internal sector”. Among the major risks, the Regional Civil Protection reports, are those of:

  • Storm phenomena characterized by forecast uncertainty and rapid evolution, with possible damage to roofs and temporary structures due to gusts of wind, lightning, possible hailstorms and falling branches or trees;
  • Surface runoff with possible material transport phenomena;
  • Possible increase in the water levels of smaller watercourses, with flooding of neighbouring areas, also due to local critical issues (culverts, narrowings, etc.);
  • Possible flooding of underground rooms and those on the ground floor;
  • Possible surface flow of water in roadways and possible phenomena of regurgitation of rainwater disposal systems with overflow and involvement of depressed urban areas;
  • Possible rock falls in several places in the area and occasional landslides linked to fragile hydrogeological conditions
