A simple but emotional ceremony, the one organized byOrder of doctors of the province of Reggio Calabria and held in the auditorium of the same institution, for the Hippocratic oath and the delivery of the Code of ethics a more than sixty new graduates for whom a professional path full of satisfaction is looming.

During the event, also the delivery of three scholarshipsnamed after the doctor Roberto Stella, president of the Medical Association of Varese, the first Italian doctor to die following infection with Covid-19 in the initial stages of the pandemic emergency, responsible for the training area of the National Federation of the Order of Physicians. These scholarships were offered by “Banca Generali Private” to an equal number of new graduates registered in the Register of Surgeons and Dentists, among those who participated in the notice published on the Order’s website and who achieved the highest average during their studies.

The ceremony opened with an audio link with the president of the Order, Doctor Pasquale Venezianowho for personal reasons could not attend the event. The President himself congratulated all the new graduates and their families for this brilliant goal achieved after so many years of studies, congratulating the scholarship winners who had very high averages, as well as all those who participated in the announcement and who would have, perhaps, deserved a prize for their brilliant results.

Dr. Zampogna: “Historic day”

“This is a historic day – he stated the Doctor Giuseppe Zampognavice-president of the Order – because it represents the culmination of a course of study with the degree which has now become qualifying. In the sense that for new graduates there is no longer the obligation to take the qualification exam but they can be placed directly into work. They have open highways – the vice president stressed – but they must be very careful about the choices regarding their future. They must understand that this is not a point of arrival but a starting point that must make them mature day by day with sacrifice and updating”.

And speaking of shortage of doctorsfor the doctor Zampogna “I think these young talents can truly become the pillars of healthcare. And their presence, their future and programs encourage us to fill those gaps with this wave of young forces. Furthermore, today, through a mirrored procedure, scholarships offered by Banca Generali for merit, for profit were awarded. And this is a signal to encourage everyone to commit themselves more and more to studying. Finally, a greeting to our president, Dr. Pasquale Veneziano, unable to attend the ceremony for personal reasons”.

Dr. Condello was present

Present at the ceremony was the Dr. Teresa Condellorepresentative of “Banca Generali Private”. “The Bank enthusiastically welcomed the proposal of the Medical Association because first of all it shares the same values, that is, excellence, professionalism and trust. The Bank is very active in the local area, encouraging academic training and therefore excellence. From this agreement a convention was born through which all members of the Order will have competitive advantages for the management of the current account but also tailor-made trust services. Obviously we cannot forget the late doctor Roberto Stella, who perished during Covid, so much so that the scholarships are named after him.”

Bruno Porcino: “a day of celebration”

For the doctor Bruno Porcino, treasurer of the Orderit was a day of celebration, both for the young doctors and for their families. “The Hippocratic Oath, as underlined during my speech, is very important because the young person at the beginning of his professional activity makes himself, among other things, available in all possible moments of emergency. Equally important – added the treasurer of the Order – is professional secrecy, that is, respect for the privacy of one’s patient. These are young doctors who have received the parchment and the membership card of the Order at a very delicate moment for Healthcare in Calabria which records, according to the latest data, mass escapes to work in other Italian regions. The hope, therefore, is that these young doctors remain in our region or, at least, return when they finish their specialization”.

The words of Dr. Meanwhile

For the President of the Commission of Dentists, doctor Filippo Frattima, “the Order will always be at their side with the hope of a future full of satisfactions that these guys deserve and, at the same time, encouraging them to observe the Hippocratic Oath so that they can always take into consideration the respect and love for the sick who expect from them, in addition to medical prescriptions, a smile and a caress even when they are tired after a day at work. Society expects a lot of humanity from these new graduates, the same humanity that is being lost because there is an ever-decreasing lack of contact with the sick, often relying on diagnostic imaging or so-called defensive medicine”.
