Violent thunderstorm, with hail in some areas, on Monday afternoon in Brianza. Shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, a storm hit Brianza, with heavy rainfall and, in some areas, even hail.
In Agrate Brianza hailstones fell for a few minutes, alternating with heavy rain. The month of July began with bad weather and a downpour. At the moment there are no problems with traffic. The Lombardy Region Civil Protection has issued a yellow code alert for Monday 1 July due to the risk of thunderstorms. The criticality warning, valid for the central plain and the area of the Milan hydraulic hub, came into effect at 2:00 pm on Monday 1 July and will end at midnight on Tuesday 2 July.

“For the remaining part of today 01/07 rainfall in the form of showers and thunderstorms is expected. The most acute phase of the disturbed passage is expected to coincide with the afternoon and early evening. The rainfall is expected to move from the North-West towards South-East and are expected to run out by the early hours of Tuesday 02/07. It should be noted that discontinuous phenomena are expected in the western sectors and in Valcamonica, locally even of moderate intensity, with cumulative precipitation peaks of up to 30-50 mm. , while in the central-eastern Prealps and plains the storm phenomena may take on a more organized and structured character, potentially also forming storm lines with peak cumulatives that may reach 50-80 mm and probable hail” we read in the weather bulletin of the functional risk monitoring center natural resources of the Lombardy Region.
“On the plain and the central-eastern Prealps, strengthening ventilation is expected, with values up to 50-60 km/h between the afternoon and evening, with further temporary intensification during thunderstorms. For tomorrow 02/07, unstable conditions are expected, which could worsen from the afternoon on the Prealpine belt, where the activation of scattered showers and thunderstorms of mainly weak intensity is not excluded. An evening decrease in precipitation will be possible, with possible intensification, towards the high plain areas”.
