LUCCA. Work has begun in San Pietro a Vico on the construction of a car park and the arrangement of a green area in via della Chiesa, next to the primary school of San Pietro a Vico. The intervention, which has a cost of approximately 255 thousand euros and is carried out by the Nutini Costruzioni company of Piano di Coreglia, involves the construction of a car park in the westernmost area with 37 parking spaces arranged both in a herringbone pattern and in line, and a space for the school bus. The remaining area near the school will be redeveloped as a green area with paths, ornamental trees and children’s games: everything will be completed by a new public lighting system. The work, which should be completed by next October, is part of the intervention which has a total value of over 1.2 million and which is the responsibility of the Modesto Cardella Paper Company because it is an integral part of the municipal urban plan for the new construction for the functional reorganization of the San Pietro a Vico paper mill, approved by the municipal council in 2022. In addition to the construction of the car park and green area serving the school, the hamlet will be equipped with a new roundabout, work on which will begin shortly , and the car park near the cemetery will be enlarged, which will thus have around 33 spaces.
Furthermore, the primary school is currently undergoing a complete redevelopment of the building. For a sum of 130 thousand euros, the company Papeschi Soluzioni of Lucca is taking care of the internal and external painting, the arrangement of the fixtures and the repaving of the atrium and the canteen area. The mayor carried out an inspection on site this morning (July 1st). Mario Pardini together with the public works councilors Nicola Buchignani and school buildings Simona Testaferrata. Also present Rosaria Cardella of the Modesto Cardella Paper Mills. “This is – they declared – on the one hand an intervention that has been awaited for many years which will provide the center of the hamlet with a new car park, but above all it will provide greater safety for families when they accompany or pick up their children from school, since it will be built in a protected area and will have direct access to the school building. At the same time we are also rearranging the building that houses the primary school of San Pietro a Vico, as part of the summer activities planned for the redevelopment and maintenance of the school buildings. These two construction sites, together, will give us a more beautiful, comfortable, safe and functional school for the next school year.”
