This is the press release issued by the ASL of Caserta: “ASL CASERTA, COURSE FOR MEDICAL SURGEONS (CARDIOLOGISTS; DIABETOLOGISTS; NEPHROLOGISTS; GENERAL MEDICINE DOCTORS; NEUROLOGISTS) AND NURSES

Diabetic pathology – it is written – represents a pathognomonic example of a multidisciplinary chronic pathology with a high clinical and economic impact. However, its management is continuously subject to critical issues that reveal an incomplete care of patients. The ASL Caserta intends to pay renewed attention to this group of patients, with a prevalence that exceeds 6%, in the post-pandemic phase, through two paths: an organizational path that finds its definition in the revision of the PDTA in light of the Ministerial Decree 77/2022 and a clinical-scientific path, as an advancement of an already active project, to achieve what is indicated in the same Ministerial Decree 77/2022 and that is to arrive at the stratification of the population.

An already active project has in fact made it possible to analyze the current data relating to patients with type 2 diabetes in ASL Caserta and the quality of the care path provided to them, through outcome indicators – continues the note – extracted from the company databases, kept by the Internal Management Control Service (in compliance with privacy regulations). And it is precisely this elaboration with a general framework of evaluation that we want to submit to the audience to start a new project phase which from the analysis of big data can move towards the identification of the population of patients not adequately cared for, to start a real Initiative Medicine, optimizing the therapeutic-care path, reducing complications and improper hospitalizations, bringing out undiagnosed patients. For the success of this second project phase, it is essential – continues the press release – an active involvement of the Company’s General Practitioners, as the main actors in the care of patients, together with the Specialists and the actors of the care path, involvement which is implemented with this preparatory and dedicated training course, aimed at:

  • Share the priorities for reorganizing the care pathways for patients with type 2 diabetes according to the renewed PDTA
  • Share areas for improvement to ensure more effective patient care with type 2 diabetes
  • Share objectives and methods of carrying out dedicated Initiative Medicine activities, aimed at actively attracting patients
  • Strengthen actions to improve skills, prescriptive appropriateness and therapeutic adherence.

The Course recipients – he continues – are Medical Surgeons (cardiologists; diabetologists; nephrologists; general practitioners; neurologists) and Nurses. Credits: The achievement of the 4 training credits issued is subject to actual participation in the course for the entire number of hours, attendance recording and correct learning verification for 75% of the applications. Based on ministerial rules, it will not be possible to issue ECM credits to participants who do not fall within the accredited professions or disciplines, unless they are equivalent in discipline or career title.
