The procession in honor of St. Peter the Apostle in Modica was a much attended and celebrated event by the local community. Hundreds of faithful and devotees paid homage to the city’s patron saint, demonstrating great enthusiasm and a sense of belonging towards this religious tradition.

The highlight of the celebrations took place on Saturday evening with the exit of the artistic simulacrum of Saint Peter from the Mother Church. The simulacrum depicting the saint with the paralytic, a work by Civitelli, was welcomed with jubilation by the people present along the procession route along Corso Umberto. The relic of the Saint was also carried in procession, underlining the spiritual and cultural importance of the event for the Modica community.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Msgr. Salvatore Rumeo, bishop of the diocese of Noto, and saw the participation of the Modica Philharmonic civic band, which accompanied the procession with its music.

Furthermore, another significant ceremony took place in the morning, the mass for the city, during which the parish priest Giuseppe Stella presided over the delivery of the votive candle and the signing of the deed of commitment by the mayor and the parish priest themselves. Representatives of the municipal administration, the municipal council, the military authorities, local associations and social associations also participated in the event.

The whole day was enriched by fireworks.
