The day of the Tour de France in Piacenza has arrived. During the night between Sunday and Monday, July 1st, the village was set up in the parking lot of Viale Malta where the cyclists will gather at the start of the third stage that ends in Turin: the leader in the yellow jersey of the Grand Boucle, after two stages, is the favourite Tadej Pogacar.
LIVE – The advertising caravan is scheduled to depart at 9.15, while in the village at 9.40 a stage show will be staged to open the “sports” time on the podium by the artistic company “La Clique du Tour”; at 9.45 on the smaller podium exchange of gifts and pennants with mayor Katia Tarasconi, the president of the Region Stefano Bonaccini, and the director of the Tour Christian Prudhomme. The first presentation of the runners will follow. The urban catwalk for cyclists is scheduled to start at 11.15, with the authorities on the starting line. Mayor Katia Tarasconi will give the go-ahead with the flag. The areas dedicated to the Tour for one day “leave” the control of Piacenza and become to all intents and purposes French territory, with all services managed by the Grande Boucle organisation. Meanwhile, signs have already appeared in the city, strictly in French, indicating the different areas serving the event.

PATH – The tour of the historic center will last just eight minutes, it is estimated that it will take the runners twenty minutes to get to Rottofreno. The departure is from the viale Malta car park, cyclists will pass via Venturini, stradone Farnese, via Giordani, piazza sant’Antonino, via sant’Antonino, largo Battisti, piazza Cavalli, via XX Settembre, piazza Duomo, via Romagnosi, via Cavour , viale Risorgimento, piazzale Milano, via XXI Aprile, piazzale Torino and via Emilia Pavese. Kilometer zero is located on the SS10, i.e. the actual starting point of the third stage (11.35) which will arrive in Turin in the afternoon.
THE START AT 11.15 FROM VIALE MALTA – The start from the Emilian city is scheduled for 11.15 am from Viale Malta (while the advertising caravan is scheduled to start two hours earlier). The cyclists will cross the city center and then travel along the Via Emilia and continue towards Broken brake, Sarmatian e Castle of St. John. After 20 km they will leave the region to head towards the finish line in Turin. A significant route that includes the passage through Tortona in homage to Fausto Coppi, to whom the stage is dedicated, and that borrows some of the roads of the Milan-Sanremo: 231 km, entirely on the plain, for a stage all for sprinters. And to pay a worthy tribute to the champions of the Tour, in Piacenza until July 1st Piazza Cavalli will be colored yellow with Palazzo Gotico illuminated by a video mapping dedicated to the Piacenza stage. Among the initiatives carried out is also the copy of the Eiffel Tower made of bread in the typical Piacenza braid shape, in front of the Town Hall.
BEFORE DEPARTURE – The Tour village, set up in the parking lot on Viale Malta, will open at 8:15. The presentation of the eight Continental Cadets-Junior is scheduled for 8:25, followed by the presentation of the eight winners of the Dictée du Tour with the municipal councilors Mario Dadati and Simone Fornasari. HOW THE PREVIOUS STAGE WENT – Wearing the yellow jersey in the Piacenza-Turin stage, the third of the 2024 Tour de France, will be Tadej Pogacar.
