Beyond the podium achieved by Maverick Vinales, the Sprint race at Assen did not bring great joy to the Aprilia Racing team, which saw both Aleix Espargaró and Lorenzo Savadori crash during the first of the two races of the Dutch weekend.

The Spanish rider suffered a bad fall in Turn 15 on the last lap of the race, while occupying sixth position behind Fabio Di Giannantonio, and immediately appeared to suffer from pain in his right hand. While the test driver from Cesena, engaged in a wild card, ended up spinning during the fifth round of the Sprint, suffering a bad blow to his back in a fall for which the images were not shown.

After the first tests carried out at the medical center, both drivers from the Noale manufacturer were taken for checks to the nearby Assen hospital, where Espargaro he underwent an X-ray of his right hand, which revealed a simple fracture of the 5th metacarpal confirmed by CT scan. Aleix’s participation in the Dutch GP therefore remains in doubt as he will have to undergo a further medical check on Sunday morning, before the Warm Up.

What is certain, however, will be the absence of Savadori, unable to take part in tomorrow’s race due to multiple fractures of the transverse processes of the lumbar spinehighlighted by the clinical and instrumental tests he underwent in hospital.
