In exchange 10 euros per month bonus; experimentation with ministry
(DIRE) Bologna, 29 June – Travelling on different means of transport in a single travel experience. The MaaS app will be tested in Emilia-Romagna starting on 1 July, allowing users to plan, book and pay for multiple transport services, based on their needs, in a single trip. To test the system, a trial is planned with the participation of 5,000 citizens, of which 500 will be residents of inland areas and 100 people with disabilities. Those selected will receive an invitation to download the app for the test: they will need to fill out short questionnaires on the satisfaction and effectiveness of the services and allow the use of their travel data for the purposes of some sector studies, in essence. The initiative involves the entire Emilia-Romagna public transport system. Starting Monday, citizens of Emilia-Romagna will be able to apply online and, in exchange, will receive a credit of 10 euros each month until December to spend on regional transport services (buses and trains) and for parking in over 20 municipalities. The only condition is to ‘consume’ at least five euros each month. Emilia-Romagna, in fact, is one of the regions chosen by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for the experiment, with funding of 2.3 million euros within the Pnrr.
“If it is easier and cheaper to access the various public transport – comments the regional councillor for Mobility, Andrea Corsini – it will also be easier to leave the car at home. This experiment will allow us to give a strong acceleration to the digitalisation of local public transport, making it an increasingly competitive alternative to private transport, with advantages for the environment, the quality of life in our cities, as well as for the citizens themselves, who will be able to move more easily and save money. Even the economic operators of MaaS, transport and mobility will be able to benefit from it, thanks to a system of clear rules, which lowers the barriers to entry and encourages the development of the market”.
